What’s visa on arrival?

Visa on arrival is issued at the entry point of the country. A lot of countries offer visa on arrival to citizens for certain nationalities. It is important to note that while you may receive your visa upon arrival at the airport/border/port of a foreign country, you have to ensure that you are eligible for the same and are carrying required documents. Few countries issue to travellers at the port of entry upon arrival and pay for it while others require you to apply or register online to receive a confirmation e.g. Hong Kong

In many cases, if you wish to get a visa on arrival, you will need to have a valid passport, proof of your confirmed return tickets, required funds for the trip and hotel reservations. Formalities in terms of pre-arrival vary from one country to another. You are, therefore, suggested to read the regulations listed on the official immigration or relevant website of the country you plan to visit for details. Visa on arrival, in most cases, is given to tourists who wish to visit a country for holidaying/vacationing. Visa on arrival cannot be converted to other types of visas or permits upon arrival at the airport/sea port of a country.
